Toyota Service FAQs
Oil and Filter Service
Changing your oil and filter at the interval prescribed in your owner's manual - and it's imperative that you check your owner's manual because with today's synthetic oils, intervals can go up to 10,000 miles! - extends the life of your engine and your car's overall health.
Air Filter Service
Your Toyota car, truck, or SUV's air filter, just like an oil filter, gets dirty simply from being used. In Vermont we tend to have clean air, but even without all the smog of some places (which can make your air filter's life shorten) you will still build up a lot of debris like pollen, dirt from unpaved roads, salt and sand on a constantly plowed winter road in Vermont, and more. As the air filter gets clogged with dirt, bugs, and other debris, the lack of air literally chokes the engine an creates a "rich" content of gasoline; in other words there is too much gas being burned, not enough air gets through, and the required balance thereof is all out of whack. This will not only burn extra already expensive gasoline, but the engine can and will lose power as things worsen.
If that didn't help you see the need for a clean air filter maybe this will: changing a clogged filter can improve gas mileage by up to 15%! That's 1.5 extra miles for every 10 mpg, or 15 cents per gallon less you'll pay per 10 mpg! With a car like the Prius, that's over 50 cents per gallon you will either waste or save... per gallon!
Tire Rotation
Tires wear differently depending on how you drive, but it also depends on where they're placed on a car. For instance if your front-right strut was busted, that same tire could be bearing more weight and wear more quickly than the rest. Proper tire rotation maintenance at Handy Toyota of St. Albans, VT can keep you safer once again while preserving an investment like a new set of all-season tires or winter tires... as long as you rotate them according to the owner's manual of your specific Toyota vehicle or used car. As such, your best bet is to get your tires rotated by an authorized Toyota service technician.
